Six2 Ministries: A Look Back at 2022 & Most Popular Topics (Part 1 of 3)

If you are like us, this year has moved rather quickly!

In January, I began interviewing at Highlands College. By March, he was the Registrar and in a new apartment. The house sold quickly. Charity and I moved to Leeds, AL, soon after. Charity began her new position at Highlands College in September. Throughout, we continued to coach, train, and pastorally counsel as best we could. We even launched a new season of our Six2 Podcast! Crazy, but good, times.

So many ask, what are people talking about with Six2 Ministries? Well, there are a lot of topics! So, I narrowed down the field to the top 10 topics of 2022 based on how often we discussed these topics. These are all important and life-changing; however, some were more common than others. Here you go:

10-Mental Health Research

  • As you know, I completed my Ed.D. in Community Care and Counseling in 2022. The topic of my research was Evangelical mental health during the pandemic. I looked at variables like social support, stress, and emotional intelligence related to mental health. There were some interesting findings!
  • I have been asked to share the results of my research in various circles. I have shared with academics, churches, and individuals.
  • I will share more as we go, but we are stressed and languishing as Christians. We need relationships to improve mental health. Emotional intelligence plays a “buffer” role against stress as it pertains to mental health.
  • Are you languishing? How do you know?

9-Finances

  • No, we are not financial planners, but we have a really good one!
  • We have been working through financial management and training for over 15 years.
  • We have equipped countless individuals and couples to create a plan for financial significance beyond their budget.
  • Most folks know how to budget; however, many live in debt with little to no retirement planning. Since this is the case, few are prepared to make an impact beyond their lives. This is our area of focus.
  • We have a podcast coming in February sharing our most common tools to equip individuals, couples, and teams for financial significance.
  • Are you thinking of how to make a difference with your finances now and in 50 years from now?

8-Marriage (and pre-marriage)

  • One of our passions is to help strengthen marriages and prepare young couples for a healthy, lasting relationships.
  • Yes, relationships take work. But working in the wrong areas can actually make a relationship worse!
  • This past year, we have invested our time in helping couples invest their energy in what matters most in their relationship.
  • Creating a vision and defining values has become a topic of interest recently.
  • What is the vision for your marriage? What are your values? How are you living these out?

7-Getting the most out of life in every season

  • On a scale from 1 to 10, how satisfied are you with life? If 10, was the “most satisfied,” how are you? Most folks we helped were in the 3-7 range.
  • Satisfaction is subjective and unique to each individual.
  • Seasons come and go. There are easier seasons and more difficult ones.
  • We drill down beneath the surface to see what is really happening, then create a plan that honors God and equips the individual, couple, or team to get the most out of life.
  • This is a holistic approach including spiritual, emotional, relational, mental, and physical objectives.
  • This is some of the most fun training we get to do!
  • Are you getting the most out of this season?

We still have 6 to go! Stay tuned!
